I have always been fascinated with the representation of the human form throughout history, especially with the ongoing consensus that capturing it accurately is often seen as a difficult task to achieve. As a figurative painter, I have accepted this challenge.
The primary focus with this body of work is the depiction of people, and more specifically, people that hold a part in my life. I have found that having a personal connection to the people of my portraits allows me to convey a personality through the medium. My main goal is to portray my subjects wholeheartedly, with intentions of capturing their true essence.
Each figure I paint is placed in a nonrepresentational space. This space is insinuating where each one of them goes when they choose to look introspectively. Since it is impossible for me nor anyone else to have any perception of this space, I have chosen to keep it unidentifiable.
